Crafting Connection: A Creative Community Session With the Fairfield Youth

Paper Flower Crafts Community Session

Our Head Office and Community Hub was once again buzzing with creativity and laughter during our latest community participation event—this time, with paper crafts!

We were delighted to welcome Caroline and Tina, volunteers from the Fairfield City Youth Advisory Committee (YAC). Caroline and Tina were part of the recent Bring It On! Festival, where they and other YAC members crafted hundreds of colourful paper flowers to bring joy and beauty to festival spaces. Now, they’re generously sharing their skills with the El Pinoy Care community.

With paper, glue, and vibrant imagination, our participants enjoyed getting hands-on—folding, shaping, and layering paper petals into beautiful flowers. There were smiles all around, and plenty of laughs too. One sweet and memorable moment came when Felipe, one of our NDIS participants, playfully decided that the paper flowers needed watering. 🌸💧

After the crafts session, our Operations Manager, Alex, facilitated an open feedback discussion. It was a thoughtful and constructive conversation where participants and carers shared their views about our community events and services.

One powerful takeaway came from Minda, Felipe’s wife, who spoke about the importance of understanding your NDIS or aged care funding—even if you’re not self-managing your package. Knowing where your funding is going and what services it's supporting helps ensure you’re getting the most out of it. Her message was clear: If you have questions, don’t be afraid to speak with your fund manager or reach out to us—we’re here to help.

This session was a beautiful mix of creativity, community, and empowerment.

A heartfelt thank you to Tina and Caroline from the Fairfield YAC for sharing your time, creativity, and kindness with our participants. Your efforts made the day extra special and truly meaningful.
